Shopify experimentation
ABConvert for AI agents
ABConvert is an A/B testing and personalization app for Shopify merchants and CRO teams. Compare prices, offers, storefront experiences, shipping, and checkout changes using actual visitor and order data.
Compare conversion rate, revenue per visitor, average order value, and statistical confidence. Profit metrics depend on your cost-of-goods configuration. Results need sufficient traffic and orders; an experiment does not guarantee an improvement.
What you can test and personalize
| Capability | Use case |
|---|---|
| Price tests | Compare product prices, including supported multi-market pricing. |
| Shipping tests | Compare shipping rates, free shipping thresholds, and delivery options. |
| Offer tests | Compare automatic product, order, shipping, volume, and threshold discounts. |
| URL redirect tests | Split traffic between different landing pages or page URLs. |
| Template tests | Compare Shopify page templates for products or collections. |
| Theme tests | Compare Shopify themes with a controlled traffic split. |
| Visual editor tests | Test storefront text, images, buttons, and links using the visual editor. |
| Checkout tests | Test delivery and payment customizations and eligible checkout UI blocks. |
| Audience targeting | Choose which visitors are eligible for an experiment. |
| Personalization | Apply a chosen experience to an audience, including a winning test variant. |
Requirements and compatibility
- ABConvert is built for Shopify storefronts. Headless storefronts are not currently supported.
- Price tests use Shopify Functions. Subscription products and bundles are excluded from price tests.
- Shipping tests require Shopify Carrier Service API access.
- Checkout delivery and payment customizations work across Shopify plans. Checkout UI blocks require Shopify Plus.
- Feature access also depends on your ABConvert plan. Check the current pricing and feature requirements before choosing a plan.
See plan requirements and current pricing for the latest details.
From setup to a decision
- Install ABConvert from the Shopify App Store and complete the app setup.
- Create a draft experiment, configure variants and traffic allocation, and preview the experience before launching.
- Monitor results, assess statistical confidence, and apply the winning experience when the evidence supports a decision.
APIs and AI integration
The documented REST API supports experiment management and results. The browser JavaScript API reads visitor assignments and test values and tracks custom events. The MCP integration connects compatible AI assistants to an authorized store to create drafts, manage experiments, and query results. Access requires store authorization and an enabled integration. Check each integration's setup guide for availability and supported operations.
Start with the API authentication guide or MCP setup guide.
